Is Kelly having a professional breakdown
Kelly Clarkson, after the harrowing week you've had, we here at Top Events want to take this opportunity to say we're worried about you. Your new woman-scorned single, "Never Again"--despite kicking more butt than even Pat Benatar did in her unitard-sheathed heyday, and being delectably vicious enough to make Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know" sound like an Amy Grant spiritual--continued its inexplicable slide down the radio chart, after stalling at a very un-Idol-esque #21. Then you lived up to your "Miss Independent" moniker by splitting with The Firm, the high-powered management company that once guided you to sextuple-million sales and double-Grammy victory. A day later, you announced the cancellation of your entire summer tour. And all the while, newsstands were selling the controversial latest issue of Elle, in which you not only discussed all those rumors about music mogul Clive Davis offering you $10 million to re-record your self-penned, supposedly radio-unfriendly My December album, but also confessed that you've never been in love. Well, Kelly, we're here to tell you that we're still in love with you. First of all, we're grateful and relieved that when you had a public meltdown, at least it wasn't the really scandalous kind that many of your less talented, more tabloid-baiting pop peers undergo. You didn't shave your head. You didn't forget to wear panties. You didn't star in a sex tape that leaked to the Web. You weren't photographed passed out in a car. You didn't get a DUI. You didn't go to rehab, to jail, or to one of those mysterious treatment centers celebs go to for "exhaustion." So the past week could've been much, much worse. And second, you really can do no wrong with us, plain and simple. So ahead and record an album of polka, zydeco, spoken word, Gregorian chants, whatever floats your boat--we'll still buy it. And we're hoping your many loyal fans do the same when My December comes out June 26, so all those nasty naysayers will be proven wrong.
